Beit Midrash
Opportunities for Learning
Shared study is at the heart of the community experience at Moreshet Avraham.
Each of our prayer services includes a sermon, and beyond that, we offer a variety of study opportunities — frameworks for exploration, deeper learning, and engagement with the richness of Jewish sources.
Throughout the year, we run regular and rotating classes in both Hebrew and English, covering Talmud, Jewish thought, and related topics. Our ongoing lecture series provide chances to delve deeply into a particular source or theme, to study in chevruta (partnership) or group settings, and to learn from guest lecturers who broaden our perspectives. A full schedule of classes appears in the monthly calendar.
Dor LeDor
Nurturing Young Judaism
In the spirit of Rabbi Aharon Goodman, Moreshet Avraham hosts weekly children’s prayer services filled with music, song, and joyful learning. Children join in the concluding parts of the Shabbat prayers, gaining experience as prayer leaders (shlichei tzibur).
Throughout the year, we also provide family activities, educational performances, and special events marking the Jewish calendar. Since the 7th of October, 2023 we have made it a priority to support families and children with ongoing programs that build resilience and foster togetherness. Weekly family respite activities bring a warm, home-like atmosphere while strengthening ties to tradition. We are deeply committed to our shared future and dedicated to nurturing and expanding programs for children and families.
A Meaningful Journey
Bar and Bat Mitzvah Preparation
Preparing for Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a journey of discovery — an introduction to the Jewish bookshelf, to prayer, to the tallit and tefillin, and to the values of kindness and morality at the core of Jewish tradition.
Our rabbis accompany families throughout the process, guiding both the preparation and the celebration itself. Together with the Bar or Bat Mitzvah, they craft a personal drasha (sermon), ensuring the experience is thoughtful and meaningful.
Participants emerge with knowledge and orientation across different branches of Jewish tradition, along with a deeper appreciation of the significance of the Bar and Bat Mitzvah.

Acts of Kindness in the Community
“A world of kindness will be built.”
Moreshet Avraham serves as a network of support for its members while also working on behalf of our neighbors and the wider Jerusalem community. We collect food for families in need in our neighborhood, distributed monthly in partnership with the PRI organization. Special food drives are organized before the High Holidays, Purim, and Passover. Ahead of Passover, we collect chametz products from West Jerusalem and, through the “Kulna” organization, distribute them to non-Jewish families in East Jerusalem. Our community also hosts blood donation events and meals for lone soldiers. We provide a framework of support to our members in times of celebration as well as in times of mourning.
NOAM Talpaz
Youth Movement
The Talpaz branch of NOAM, the youth movement of Masorti Judaism, has a vibrant home at Moreshet Avraham. Members meet twice a week for educational and social events, and participate in Shabbat programs throughout the year. We are blessed with energetic, committed young people who contribute both to our local community and to the wider NOAM network across Israel. We are proud of NOAM Talpaz’s educational work and grateful for the partnership we share.
